About the Project

R.E.A.C.H. (Remote Energy Access and Control Hub) is a hardware engineering capstone project developed as part of the Sonoma State University EE 493 Senior Design Program, in partnership with Husch Vineyards.

Designed to address the challenges faced by remote and rural locations — such as ranches, farms, and vineyards — R.E.A.C.H. is an external module that enhances existing remote solar power systems. It provides power management over connected low-power field devices, remote monitoring and control via LTE, outlet-level scheduling, and load prioritization. A Grafana-based cloud dashboard enables remote outlet control, scheduling, priority assignment, and telemetry data analysis. An E-Ink local display shows real-time outlet status and power metrics. The combination of features reduces device downtime, maintenance trips, and operational uncertainties.

We are a team of senior Electrical Engineering students at Sonoma State University, developing R.E.A.C.H. for our EE 493 capstone in partnership with Husch Vineyards. Our work spans hardware design, embedded systems, firmware development, and cloud-based dashboards — guided by our faculty and industry advisors.
